In the world of mass-produced furniture, “custom” usually just means picking a stain color from a dropdown menu. At The Bros. Wood & Steel Co., we find that approach insulting to the wood. This is why you won’t find an “Add to Cart” button on our high-end commissions like our $4,700 Monkey Pod or Ancient Oak tables.
We operate strictly in Catalog Mode because a luxury commission is a partnership between the artist, the client, and the timber. Every slab in our library has a “voice.” One might feature a dramatic lightning-strike scar—a beautiful tragedy that creates a one-of-a-kind grain pattern—while another offers the calm, swirling iridescence of a clear-grade burl.
Our Private Slab Selection process is designed to ensure that the piece we build for you is the one you were meant to have. We walk you through the structural benefits of different species, the tactile feel of various “live edges,” and how the light in your specific room will interact with the grain. We don’t sell inventory; we facilitate acquisitions of art.
